Andrea Pendibene aboard Intermatica ITA-520, will be racing from April 16 to 22 in the Italian Gran Prix, the regatta for the Mini 650 class. The regatta, organized by the Yacht Club Italiano of Genoa, was established four years ago and continues to rally skippers from all over the Mediterranean. Andrea Pendibene, who won last-year’s edition with Nicolas Berager in the production class, will be facing the challenge in 2011 with Remi Fermin, the promising young yachtsman from France. They will be challenging their opponents along the Genoa – La Caletta (Sardinia) – Giannutri Genoa route, for a total of more than 540 miles. The race proves very challenging because of the frequently unstable weather conditions.
On his return to to Italy, Andrea Pendibene declared: ”I ’m happy to return to racing in Italy. I’ve been training in France for months and it’s always a pleasure to return to home waters. What is more, this regatta is organized by the Italian Yacht Club, of which I am a member, and this makes me even more motivated. I hope I’ll match last year’s result. Remi Fermin is an excellent yachtsman and I believe we can do very well together.”’
Remi Fermin added: “I’ve never sailed together with Andrea, but we’ve frequently met in training, each on his own boat, and I have great respect for him. It will be interesting to work together during the race. Intermatica ITA 520 is also a fast boat, and I am sure it will not disappoint us.”

La regata, organizzata dallo Yacht Club Italiano di Genova, e’ stata istituita quattro anni fa e continua a radunare skipper da tutto il Mediterraneo. Andrea Pendibene, che vinse lo scorso anno in coppia con Nicolas Berager nella categoria imbarcazioni di serie, nel 2011 affrontera’ la prova insieme a Remi Fermin, giovane e promettente velista francese. I due sfideranno gli avversari sul percorso di 540 miglia Genova – La Caletta (Sardegna) – Giannutri Genova. La prova si rivela molto impegnativa a causa delle condizioni meteo spesso instabili.

Andrea Pendibene, appena arrivato in Italia, ha raccontato: ‘sono contento di tornare a regatare in Italia. Sono mesi che mi alleno in Francia e tornare nelle acque di casa  e’ sempre un piacere, inoltre questa regata e’ organizzata dallo Yacht Club Italiano, con cui sono tesserato, il che mi rende ancora piu’ motivato. Spero di eguagliare il risultato dello scorso anno. Remi Fermin e’ un ottimo velista e credo che insieme possiamo fare bene.’

Remi Fermin ha poi aggiunto: ‘Non ho mai navigato insieme ad Andrea, ma spesso ci siamo confrontati in allenamento, ciascuno con la sua imbarcazione, e ho molta stima di lui. Sara’ interessante poterci confrontare durante la regata. Intermatica ITA 520 inoltre e’ un’imbarcazione veloce, sono certo non ci deludera’.’
